Sixties Soul and Rhythm and Blues

During the 40s and 50s music by African-American artists were coined Rhythm and Blues and you hear that term even today.  In the early 60s the music was called Soul.  The record labels that had a major impact on soul music we listened to during the 60s were Chess Records, Atlantic, Stax and of course Motown. 

I have selected 28 great soul songs of the 60s.  Of course the list could have been endless and it was very difficult choosing just 28.  I hope you enjoy the songs I have selected.
