I would give my left arm to have gone to Woodstock! What a fantastic festival it must have been. Every band I really love was there: Butterfield Blues Band, Creedence Clearwater, Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills & Nash, Richie Havens, Jefferson Airplane and so many others! I was 18 at the time and remember watching it on the news down here. I own the DVD and enjoy watching it and living the experience vicariously through the lucky buggers that got to go to the best 3 day festival in history. Three days of love and music, man! I seriously doubt such a festival could be replicated now where 400,000 people could come together for three days of love and music, man! The late 1960's through to 1980 was one of the most prolific eras for legendary, timeless music - I feel blessed to have lived through it! ;)

Admin reply: Indeed a wonderful time to have been a part of. Thanks for your comments Kathryn.

Carl you are doing sterling work BUT I really miss my weekly email!!! I understand the reasons tho. So from one military vet to another - I salute you Sir!
PS: Just got back from a nostalgic weekend in Liverpool - yes the home of the Beatles & the Merseybeat sound - it was just fab n groovy. All the very best to you and all other 60s buffs - we'll never surrender or be beaten.

What an incredible site. I grew up in the 60's being a DJ how lucky I was. I just cant get over what you have done here. Awesome! Its helping me with info for our 50th class reunion in June 2015. How did we ever get this old and still feel 16. Guess its the Peter Pan Effect

Admin reply: I hope you found what you needed for your reunion Kathy. I know you will truly have fun. By the way who is old? We still are teenagers at heart aren't we?

Drop a Dime is not a 60's slang.

It's a 40's - 50's slang for call the cops.

Admin reply: If you had read the introduction of the slang terms you have seen that many of these terms came about before the 60s and continue through the sixties decade.

Hello. I am from Springfield Ohio originally. I loved reading about your history. It is so like mine. How blessd we were to have been in such a wonderful time. It is sad how the kids of today can not know that joy. I loved being on a road trip with you. Lol thank you for taking me along. Most of my family are still in Ohio. I came to Tx. Via Calif. Isn't life funny? Have family in Tx. Now too. I am in the Panhandle and others in southern part. I do miss Ohio and Calif. But not the winters. Lol. Life goes on no matter where we are. Family and God are the most important things in life. Hope you are blessed with love and family and friends. Stay safe n loved n blessed. Thank you for serving our country.

Admin reply: Definitely a simple and sometimes a complicated time but most who grew up during this time never regretted being part of the simple but turbulent sixties. Thank you for your comments, Janice especially from a fellow Buckeye.

Trying to find an old country song and wondering if you can help me out.. I believe the name of it is "Sticky Situation" or something like that.. can you help me out?? I don't know the singer but I do know he is a male. Thanks.

Admin reply: You are probably thinking of the 1979 hit by Moe Bandy "It's A Cheating Situation." I hope this helps.

Wow, this site brought back so many forgotten memories. I too remember my mom hanging clothes on the line every season, except, if it was really bad in the winter, she strung lines in the basement. I also jammed my arm in the wringer of our washer, lol. The washcloths in laundry soap boxes, and coffee cups in Quaker oatmeal boxes. Also, how about the Dino the dinosaur toy free with a fill-up at Sinclair gas stations, or the the tiny wienie whistle in every pack of Oscar Meyers (which would be out-lawed as a choking hazard now). Oh my gosh how I wish life was as sweet and simple now as it was then. :o

Admin reply: Thank your for your comments Delainey. It is a different and more complicated time we live in now. Definitely not as simple.
