The first dance song I remember was the Corrido Rock by Handsome Jim Bolcom. Pretty sure it was strictly a regional SoCal hit circa 1956. It was a predecessor to slam dancing.

Admin reply: Thank you for sharing a special memory.

I love this music, because this is what I grew up with. Also, having been born in 52, there was much that wasn't around then, but is now.

Admin reply: Thanks for stopping by Chucky.

loved your site, spent a couple of hours looking around
great time back then to be alive..so many historical
events going on around us everyday that at the time it
didn't seem how much we all who were alive in the USA at that time would be witness to.Social , political change.
i'm close to 60 years young and still waiting for the revolution to come.but in the mean time i have been married 37 years and raised 4 children and have been blessed
with 5 grandchildren all kidding aside you have my deepest respect for your service to the usa and the creation of this site ......thank you''' I did not serve because I was never asked if asked I would have gone but old joe never volunteers .holds true to this day

Admin reply: Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts. It was a great historical time to have grown up in.

This is a great site! I guess if we grew up like kids today we would be like them, and have to be entertained and pampered to survive. Thanks a lot.

Admin reply: Thanks for your comments Mike.

I really enjoy going back in time once in awhile on your website; wonderful memories. Now with 6 grandchildren, we play outside. Not too much computer or T.V. :D

What about Brach's Maple Creams? I haven't seen them in years.
And the candy dots on paper?
Chocolate and/or the "minty" flavored cigs?
There was also a cinnamon flavored gum, in sticks, with bright red paper--brain drain on its name...but it was good too!!! I did see you included the clove gum.
Thank you for a memory trip for our sweet tooth!!! :p

Admin reply: What a great memory Sherry. Sweets for a sweet tooth indeed. Thanks for sharing with us.
