I grew up just ten miles east of St. Louis Mo. and listened to KXOK 630 AM radio. It was the coolest station going in our area. DJ's like Johnny Rabbitt and Nick Charles Danny Dark were always hoppin' and boppin' all day and night. In the summer they always had a Splatter-Platter party at an area swimming pool. And the guve aways were always the craziest. I remember that they used to construct a big mound of ice in July and have a contest on the exact day, hour and minute that it would all melt away. In those days we would cruise around town all weekend. Ten bucks would get us enough gas to do a lot of cruisin'. We even had Gary Owen's(pre Laugh In) as a DJ in St. Louis. I played in a rock band in the early to mid 60's and we would keep up on all the new music that was coming out. All in all I'm still stuck in the 60's and that aint bad!

Admin reply: Thanks for the memory Don. And no being stuck in the 60s ain't bad.

Hi Carl,
I really enjoy the visits to this site. My memories of the 60's start in 1960 at 16 cruising Central Ave. in Phoenix, listening to KRIZ, Gary Seegar, DJ and KRUX, Don Lincoln DJ. We would cruise up and down Central Ave from Camelback Road to McDowell, the library and turn around and up and down all night, trying to meet girls ( I never did, too shy). It was a gentle time until that Novemeber in 1963, then things changed. I turned 21 in 1965 and immediately missed those early 60's years.

Thanks for a wonderful place to remember the "gentle" times.

Admin reply: A great memory and a wonderful time to have come of age in.

Thanks for stopping by.
