"The 1960s Pop-Rock Music and TV Shows Net" Roundup for August 2008
"The 1960s Pop-Rock Music and TV Shows Net" was held each week during the month with good participation. As in July, Monsoon
did not produce any storms that kept us off the air, allowing the Net to be conducted per schedule. There were a total of 16 different hams that
checked into the Net with three having "Perfect Attendance". Those stations were: K7DMF (Dave) in Vail, N7PHX (Jim) in Tempe, and KB4VYM (Clark)
in Tucson. Way to go, guys! Keep up the good work.
This month I wanted to focus the spotlight on Dave, K7DMF, who lives just outside of Tucson. Besides participating in the Net each week, Dave
continues digging those 60s hits by occasionally playing drums for a classic 60s music band, The Retro Rockets (see picture
below) who perform in the Tucson area. Dave's wife, 'Mustang Patty', recently won tickets to see the great 60s-70s group Three Dog
Night in concert at the Desert Diamond Casino. Dave and Patty enjoyed a terrific evening listening to the bands timeless hits such as "Eli's
Coming", "Joy To The World", "Shambala", and many others.

The Internet companion to the Net, "CQ Hams Still Groovin' In The 60s" continues to develope and expand with new material being added each
week. Through the "DID YOU KNOW....." column, I will chronicle the stories of the artists and bands that often do not get the recognition and
credit they deserve, all having their rightful place in 1960s rock and roll music history. I hope you enjoy this fresh, "out-of-the box"
approach to the music and the bands who made it.
If you really want to see how much you know about 1960s music, check out the "Brainteasers and Trivia" section of the website.
You may surprise yourself, and I guarantee will come away more informed than before you started. I hope you check out the "Music Genres Derived
From Rock and Roll Test" that will be added soon. And please don't forget, too, that your suggestions, comments and questions for the website are
always welcome!
Listed below are the music trivia questions for the month. Give them a try and see if you are a 'Novice', 'Technician',
'General' or 'Extra' when it comes to 60s pop-rock music.
If you live in southcentral Arizona, are visiting, or just passing through, please join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm on
the 224.500 repeater (N7EOJ) located at 9,100' above Tucson in the Santa Catalina Mountains for the Net. Everyone "into the 60s" is very
welcome!
