Welcome to the CQ Hams Still Groovin' In The 60's

John

Your Host for "CQ Hams Still Groovin' In The 60s", John Timmons, N7LQR on vacation in KH6 land (Kona, Hawai'i)

domain for hams who are also interested in the music, TV shows and culture of that great decade, the 1960's. Over a year ago I integrated my love for ham radio and 60's pop-rock music and television shows with the start of a weekly net on the 220 band. Each Wednesday at 7:30 pm "The Pop-Rock Music and TV Shows Net" takes to the airwaves on the 224.500 repeater located atop Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona. The purpose of the net is to serve as an on-air meeting place to discuss, relive and learn more about the music and TV shows that had a memorable impact on the 1960's and well beyond. Plans are currently being made to offer this net nationally via the I.R.L.P. system sometime later this summer or early fall.

The net has several key features including trivia questions about the bands and songs of the 60's as well as the TV shows and actors who played on them. There are three featured segments each week representing both music and TV,"Did You Know..." "This Week In 1960's Rock and Roll History", "Number One Hits For The Week Of  ____, 1960-1969", 60s Brain Teasers and Quizzes, plus "This Week In 1960's TV History".

If you live in southcentral Arizona, are passing through, or perhaps "winter" in the area, please join us on the net. All Babyboomers "into the 60's" are welcome!!!
