Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were the most
important song writers of rock 'n roll history. Their began in the early sixties and hits continued into
the 70s with such classics as "Stand By Me" and "Spanish Harlem," but when the Beatles broke in America in early
1964, the music industry changed very quickly. The duo never stopped working together, and in 1972 they produced
"Stuck In The Middle With You," which was recorded by Stealers Wheel. In 1995, their catalog of hits was turned
into the Broadway musical Smokey Joe's Cafe, and this past May, American Idol devoted an entire evening to their
music.
This songwriting duo penned hundreds of music
classics which were recorded by artists such as Elvis, The
Drifters, Peggy Lee, Ben E. King, The Coasters, Jay & the Americans, The Searchers, The Clovers and so many
more.
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Rock 'n Roll
Hall of fame in 1987.
Neal Stevens is now playing a few of
the many hits of Leiber-Stoller.
Produced by Neal
Stevens and Carl Hoffman.
