The following were inducted as non-performers in the years shown:

  • Leonard Chess (1987)
  • Ahmet Ertegun (1987)
  • Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (1987)
  • Jerry Wexler (1987)
  • Berry Gordy, Jr (1988)

 Multiple inductees

Some people have been inducted more than once. The current record holder is Eric Clapton who has been inducted three times. Multiple inductees include:

  • Eric Clapton (The Yardbirds, Cream, solo career)
  • Johnny Carter (The Flamingos, The Dells)
  • Sam Cooke (The Soul Stirrers, solo career)

  • Jimmy Page (The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin)
  • Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel, solo career)
  • Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash)
  • Neil Young (Buffalo Springfield, solo career)
  • The most honored band is the Beatles. Three of the Fab Four have been inducted as solo artists. Their longtime producer Sir George Martin has also been inducted, as has Phil Spector who produced the album Let It Be.

Several performers have been inducted as members of one band, but were not officially inducted when one of their other bands got enshrined. Some examples:

  • Terry Chimes: inducted with The Clash but not with Black Sabbath
  • Neil Young: inducted as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield, but not as a member of Crosby, Stills and Nash
