Facts and Questions Concerning the Transfer Service

  1. What kind of music should I select to transfer to Compact Discs? I recommend only music that is out of print or just can't be located anywhere?  Many songs from yesterday are already available on Compact Discs and it would be more cost effective to purchase them instead of transferring them from records or tapes to CDs.  Songs you might want to consider may be special songs on an LP that hasn't been released anywhere else.  There are albums that have not been put on compact discs and may never be because the recording rights are protected by the record company.  These are the types of songs you may want to consider.  I have over 50 LPs that are out of print but is great music.  I certainly put them on Compact Disc and protected the LPs for the monetary value instead of playing them. Special sentimental songs that were only released on an LP or 45 and nowhere else should be put on Compact Disc.
  2. How many songs can you put on a CD?  The Compact Discs are 80 minutes long so it depends on the length of each song.  Normally 15-31 songs.
  3. Is there a minimum amount of songs I have to purchase?  No.  We can put only 1 song on a CD if you only order one.  Keep in mind that 1 costs the same as 5 so I would recommed you send at least (5) 45s.
  4. Do you guarantee to remove all scratches and pops from the music that is on LPs and 45s? Even though we will work and work to filter out all the imperfections as much as possible, some vinyl records are too worn to remove all the cracks and pops.  What we will guarantee is that the music put on CDs from these records will sound so much better than playing them on a turntable.
  5. When transferring from a tape will the CD just contain 1 track with continuous playing of all the songs or will it be recorded by tracks? We will record the tape and make it by track with track listing in the same order as the playback of the tapes.
  6. When recording an Album or LP will these include several tracks or 1 continuous track?  We will record your CD by track in the same order and listing as the LP.
  7. What will the labeling and case cover look like?  We will try our very best to keep the integrity and likeness of the original album cover if possible.  If we cannot then the cover will be at our descretion. Same goes with the label. We guarantee the label will go well with your CD.
  8. What if I just wanted to record 1 song off of one cassette tape how much does that cost?  The cost for that will remain the cost of 1 entire cassette tape. ($12.00) If you have several cassette tapes that have a song here and there you wanted on One CD then we will charge you just for 1 cassette tape. ($12.00) When you send the package to us, indicate on a note which songs and if you have a preference on the order let us know that as well.
  9. Can I add a personal message or dedication to somebody to be put on the cover?  Yes. Include a legible note in your package with the details with your phone number in case we have any questions.
  10. How long does it take to get the order back?  Depends on work load but normally you will receive your order 2-3 weeks after we receive it.
  11. Do you ship outside the United States?  No, right now we are only shipping to the United States.
  12. I don't have a Pay Pal account or a credit card.  Can I pay with a check or money order?  Yes however nothing is shipped until the check clears so it may take your order a week longer to complete.  Money orders will not delay the process.  Make them payable to CE Hoffman. If you need assistance in determining how much it will cost just email us at webmaster@the60sofficialsite.com and we will figure the total cost for you so you can write the check or money order.
  13. How is the order shipped back to me?  It is shipped by priority mail.  If you insured the material when you shipped it, we will insure it when we send it back to you.  If  the material was not insured when we received it, we will not insure the package. I think this is fair.
  14. What if you find a record that just can't be fine tuned and doesn't meet the standards for transferring do I still get charged?  You will not get charged for the item.  I will refund your money with exception of the shipping costs that I must incur when I return your music to you.
  15. Can you transfer 8-track tapes?  At this time we will not be transferring 8-track tapes. We may at a later date.
  16. Do you guarantee the recording levels to be constant throughout the compact disc?  Yes. Our equipment will insure all tracks' audio level are recorded equally.
  17. What if I have any additional questions?  Just email us at webmaster@the60sofficialsite.com I personally answer all email within 24 hours.
