Baby Boomers' Top Songs of Summer
The 60s Decade of Summer Musical Hits

When we were younger and in High School, Junior High or Middle School, we all couldn't wait for school to let out and our
summer vacation to begin. Teens today are no different in that respect. The music of the baby boomers' era reflected the
excitement of summer and what we all looked forward doing from "rooting for the Yankees in the bleachers, don't have to worry about teachers...."
as sung in the song "School Is Out" by Gary U.S. Bonds. Take for example the song "Here Comes Summer," by
Jerry Keller, "We'll go swimming everyday." The summer song "(Just Like) Romeo and Juliet" by the
Reflections, has the lyrics of summer "take my girl datin' at the drive-in" also exemplifies
on how we looked forward to summer with more time for our girlfriends and boyfriends. If you take a poll whether it be baby
boomers or others, summer would be the season most voted as the favorite. Some of the best music was and still is released during
the summer months. More movies are released during those months so many soundtracks which include hits from those movies result in those
songs skyrocketing to the top especially if the movie is a hit.
Summer presented a time to take your favorite music to the beach, pool, or crusin' listening to your favorite The 60s was a
time when AM radio was king and we took it with us wherever we went.
I have listed what I considered the top summer songs of the Baby Boomer Generation. As always if you feel I left out any

Summer was a special time while growing up in the 60s. We just couldn't wait until school was out so we could
begin our new adventures with no books or teachers to worry about. These songs that I have selected our what I feel our the best
of the summer songs of the 1960s decade. They tell the story how we felt about summer and the great excitement it presented as
we took a break from the books. Sit back, relax and enjoy as we return to summers past. If you are planning a party this
summer, perhaps around the pool or even just a BBQ with some baby boomer friends. Hook up the speakers and pipe these gems for
some listening enjoyment.

I hope you enjoyed the trip back to the music of summers past.
