Charted Hits of 1969 that Peaked in 1970
There were many great songs of the 60s decade that were recorded and
made the Billboard Charts in 1969 but did not peak on the charts until 1970. Certainly there were others that
I did not list below but these are all of the Top 40 that were on the Billboard Charts for 1969 and 1970.
These hits charted from August 69 to Dec 69 but didn't peak until 1970.
An event that shaped the American music scene was the band, Led
Zeppelin. They hit the top 40 for the first time in 1969. Led Zeppelin consisted of legend musicians
from the 1960s era. They formed their band in October 1968 and consisted of Robert Plant, lead singer, Jimmy Page,
lead guitar, John Paul Jones, bass and keyboards, and John Bonham, drums. As many you recall, Jimmy Page
was with the Yardbirds, who many historians believe was probably the best talented rock group ever
assembled.
In 1969 Elvis once again hit the charts with "Daddy Don't Cry" which was
written by Mac Davis who had penned "In the Ghetto" earlier for Elvis.
